Who Was Saint Patrick?

March 17 is a feast day celebrating Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. According to History.com, “Saint Patrick was born in Roman Britain, kidnapped at the age of 16, and taken to Ireland as a slave. However, he escaped and returned to convert the Irish to Christianity.

Finally, by his death on March 17, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools.” Because of his work for Ireland, the Irish have come to celebrate this day with religious services and feasts.
