Apple Orchards and Harvesting

There is nothing like a fresh apple…the crunch when you bite into it and the juice that runs from the fruit…what’s better? Similar to picking other kinds of fruits throughout the year, harvesting apples typically occurs in the late Summer or early Fall (in most states).

In the north, September to early October is harvesting season for most apple orchards. However, in Texas, the prime harvesting season for apples are July and August. During this time, people flock to orchards with wooden crates or buckets, select the best-looking apples, and brainstorm the variety of recipes they can make with this fruit. Similar to blueberry picking, the recipe ideas are endless with this fruit.
