Chicken Bone Broth, according to WebMD, helps fuel your body’s hydration, and it contains the amino acid glycine which promotes relaxation and deeper restorative sleep. Furthermore, Bone Broth supports your body’s ability to build and restore bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. In conclusion, Bone Broth is a flavorful and nutrient-packed broth that is a delicious and nutritious addition to this grits recipe.

Bone Broth
Kettle & Fire Chicken Bone Broth is excellent to cook the grits in. It packs protein, health benefits, and extra flavor into the Cajun Shrimp and Grits recipe.

In addition to Bone Broth, Oat or Coconut Milk is used in lieu of dairy milk. If you’re trying to decide between the two types of dairy-free milk, here’s a quick breakdown of the difference. Oat Milk is creamy and thick, similar to Whole Milk, and has an oat flavor (hence the name). Furthermore, Oat Milk will give the grits a slight oat-like taste, but will also keep the creamy consistency.

On the other hand, Coconut Milk has a thinner consistency but will keep the grits creamy. Coconut Milk will give the grits a bit of a sweeter note which may present you with the opportunity to add more savory seasonings to balance out that sweetness.

Finally, if you are working off a true, dairy-free eating plan, you can easily substitute butter and dairy cheese for non-dairy cheese or vegan butter products. In conclusion, this recipe is delicious, savory, and sweet, and will fit the dietary needs of your family and friends (however you need).
