Crafting the Cherry Pie Filling

  1. First, if you are using fresh cherries, pit them with a Cherry Pitter.
  2. Next, if you are using frozen cherries, place them into a medium-sized Nonstick, All-Clad pot or Le Creuset Dutch Oven.
  3. Then, add all of the ingredients, and heat to medium-low heat.
  4. Next, bring the mixture to a boil, until the cherries start releasing their juices.
    • Note: This takes about 10 minutes.
  5. Then, reduce the heat to a simmer, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Finally, remove the Cherry Pie Filling from the heat, and allow it to cool.

Next, bring the mixture to a boil, until the cherries start releasing their juices. Then, reduce the heat to a simmer, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Jarring and Storing the Cherry Pie Filling

  1. First, once the Cherry Pie Filling has cooled slightly, carefully pour it into Mason Jars or an airtight container.
  2. Next, seal the jars with the lid, and then let them cool completely to room temperature.
  3. Finally, store the filling in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

  • 1/4 c. Water
  • 2/3 c. Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 c. Cornstarch (or Arrowroot Powder)
  • 1 tbsp. Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp. Lemon Zest
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
