Bosch Universal Mixer

Bosch Mixer

The first product I would highly recommend for Sourdough baking is the Bosch Universal Mixer. This mixer is what I call the “Sourdough Super Mixer.” This mixer is truly unbelievable! Although it is not a “must have,” it definitely is a “super nice-to-have” when in the world of Sourdough crafting.

One of the things I love most about the Bosch Universal Mixer is the ease of crafting a variety of batters and doughs. In my humble opinion, it takes more time to dump the ingredients into the mixing bowl than it does the mix the dough. For example, when I make a Sourdough Dutch Oven Loaf, it takes the mixer about 2 minutes to blend and combine the ingredients before the dough is ready to rise in a Banneton Bowl.

Although the Bosch Universal Mixer is amazing, it does run at a pretty-penny price. On Amazon, you can buy this mixer for about $420. However, on the Bosch company site, you can buy it for about $400. Again, this mixer is AMAZING and definitely makes for a super nice gift for any birthday or holiday.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a super mixer, the Bosch Universal Mixer is the machine for you!

Banneton Bowls

The second product I’d recommend for Sourdough baking is Banneton Bowls. Banneton Bowls are “Proofing baskets used to hold the shaped dough as it rises,” according to Bulka. Furthermore, these bowls are particularly useful for the stickier Sourdough doughs as it helps them maintain their shape prior to baking.

Although you can use lightly-oiled bowls for bread rising, Banneton Bowls are easier to use for Sourdough dough, and they are a comparable price to ceramic, glass, or wooden bowls. Finally, you can find Banneton Bowls on Amazon for $18-45 depending on the size, brand, and amount you want.

In conclusion, Banneton Bowls are one of my top recommendations for Sourdough baking!

Sourdough Whisk

A Sourdough Whisk is the third product I would recommend for Sourdough crafting. Sourdough, Danish, or Dough Whisks, are a “nice-to-have” product when mixing delicate dough or Sourdough Starter. As the King Arthur article outlines, “This is unlike any ordinary whisk because it –

Dough Whisks can be used to stir granola on a sheet pan.

Finally, you can buy these Sourdough Whisks at stores like Hobby Lobby, King Arthur, Sur La Table, Williams Sonoma, Target, and Amazon. For the most part, these run between $6-20 depending on the brand and where you purchase it.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for the “whisks of all whisks,” check out the Sourdough, Danish, or Dough Whisk. You won’t regret this product!

Sourdough Bread Lame

A Sourdough Lame is a MUST when scoring and “designing” bread art. Furthermore, a Bread Lame is the fourth product I would recommend out of the top 5 products for Sourdough. According to Breadtopia, a Bread Lame is “Typically a long, thin stick, made to hold a metal razor used to cut, or score, bread to help control the expansion of the dough as it bakes.” Furthermore, bread lames are used to create bread art.

If you’re in the market for this Sourdough tool, it can typically be found on Amazon, Sur La Table, King Arthur Baking Company, and Williams Sonoma. In addition, these tools typically range from $8-45 depending on the store you purchase from, the type of lame you buy, and the type of wood that was used to create the stick. Finally, if you’re in the market for another Sourdough product, invest in this!

Le Creuset Dutch Oven

Finally, the last product I would recommend is a Le Creuset Dutch Oven. It’s hard to beat a Le Creuset Dutch Oven. I mean, honestly, what’s not to love? A heavy, ceramic pot that’s easy to keep HOT, easy to clean, and gives Sourdough Bread the crustiest of crusts? Pure love!

Le Creuset has been a trusted brand for over 100 years, and its products are solid! I will admit, I do have a slight obsession with the beauty and durability of Le Creuset, but in terms of Sourdough baking, I would highly recommend a Le Creuset Dutch Oven and/or a Le Creuset Bread Pan.

Le Creuset

Both of these pans help create a crusty, exterior on Sourdough breads because it allows the dough to steam as it bakes. Although these pans are an investment, they make superb gifts and do transform bread baking.

Finally, if you’re in the market for these beautiful, durable, and easy-to-clean pots, they typically run from $180-400 and can be found on Amazon and the Le Creuset company site. In conclusion, Le Creuset Dutch Oven Pans are the fifth product out of the top 5 products for Sourdough baking. This product is an investment, but it will transform your Sourdough bread!
