Hypoallergenic

This frosting recipe contains some allergen-friendly ingredients, and it can also be adapted to be completely dairy free.

Instead of using Whole Milk or dairy milk, Oat Milk is used. Oat Milk has an oaty taste (hence the name) and has a thick consistency. Because of its thick consistency, this makes for a brilliant replacement for dairy milk.

Oat Milk
Oat Milk is an excellent dairy-free substitute for cow’s milk.

In addition, Cream Cheese is the base of this frosting. However, if you are allergic to dairy, you can easily substitute dairy cream cheese or non-dairy cream cheese. Vegan Cream Cheese or KiteHill Cream Cheese are two of my personal favorite dairy-free brands.

Praline Cream Cheese Frosting
This frosting will take you to the land of Pecan Pralines – a sweet taste of New Orleans.

Mixing Up the Praline Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. First, in a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and sugars.
  2. Next, add the cinnamon and vanilla and mix to combine.
  3. Then, add the Oat Milk until you’ve reached the desired consistency.
    • If you’re looking for a thicker frosting, you’ll need less Oat Milk. However, if you’re looking for a thinner frosting (almost like a glaze), you’ll need more Oat Milk.
  4. Finally, remove the mixing bowl from under the attachment, pour in the pecans, and stir with a silicone spatula until combined.
  5. Note: If you have a Bosch Universal Mixer, you can combine all of the ingredients (except the pecans) at once, mix it up, and then when the frosting is smooth, combine the pecans.

Combine All of the Ingredients and Mix

Praline Cream Cheese Frosting
Initially, when I used my Bosch Universal Mixer, I attached the paddle attachment. However, I quickly realized this was not combining and mixing the frosting the way I wanted. So, I switched to the whisk attachment.
Mix Up the Frosting
The whisk attachment on the Bosch Universal Mixer creamed the frosting much better than the paddle attachment. Trial and error!

Mix the Frosting Until Smooth and Creamy

Cream the Frosting
Mix all of the ingredients together in a Bosch Universal Mixer until you achieve a creamy consistency (as shown above). Then, add the pecans.

Using a Silicone Spatula, Mix in the Pecans
